So, these are just my humble opinions, and they are not meant to demean or bash in any way. I love TVXQ in all its forms and will support all of them always.

I never thought SM would start getting overly formulaic with TVXQ. I really like Catch Me as a song and an album. I think it displays their…

you need to be physically there in the atmosphere of the live concert to understand why the set list was the way it was. in my opinion, they are not trying to have a concert where they only sing new songs from their 2011/2012 albums. what they are trying to do is to create a well-rounded, cohesive concert experience with different moods and parts - rah-rah/contemplative/ romantic/ thankful/fun with audience etc. there was also the underlying theme of heroes/rivalry etc which they tried to show off as well through songs and clips. every sections of their concert had a meaning and they showcase this with the huge arsenal of songs available to them which included older songs. if an older song suited the purpose more, they used it. similar for newer songs.

imo, the set list was chosen well to reflect the above. i enjoyed the concert tremendously because they performed and sang all the songs so well…regardless what songs they were. :)

I will be the first to admit that these men are best when they perform live. They are charismatic, energetic, and downright mesmerizing. Perhaps if I had seen the concert live [as I plan to if they include NY in their tour] I would have a different opinion. However, this is the Catch Me World Tour. Not the Recap of the Last Nine Years World Tour. The songs on the Catch Me album should have been given preference. I’m not trying to say that HoMin don’t have the right to sing OT5 song. By all means, sing away. JYJ should also be singing them. If any one of them had a solo concert, I would fully expect them to at least sing one OT5 song. They are all entitled to singing those songs. I just think that before they delved into random tracks from O JBH or their Japanese songs, they could have fully exhausted all the songs on the album for which the tour is named.

Sorry, I really didn’t want to get into the Catch Me tour part of it lol, because I know how touchy of a subject it is right now. And I’m really envious that you saw the concert, I’m sure they were incredible =)

i personally would have loved to seen viva and the game performed live. but after attending the concert and seeing what they were trying to do when they created the set list to fit the theme of their concert, i realized that not all songs on kyhd/catch me fitted their themes and purposes for the concert.

for example, for the “showing thanks” part of the concert, there really isn’t any suitable songs on kyhd/catch me. they chose the most fitting song “i’ll be there” and the lyrics had the meaning they wanted to convey. if you wonder about “i swear” there were alot of fandom wank going on prior to the concert, which might have been the reason why that song was pulled (my own speculation). similarly, for the “fun with audience” portion, and the “romantic/comtemplative” portions (with homin in peppy suits sitting on barstools), tbh kyhd/catch me albums alone didn’t really have enough songs of such genres to fit those moods.

as mentioned earlier, with this tour i don’t think their goal was to exhaust all the songs on their newer albums, and revisiting history/proving a point with OT5 songs etc. is furthest from their minds. their goal seemed to be to choose the best songs which fit the different parts of the concert in order to create cohesion.

i hope you get a chance to watch them if they do visit NYC. :)

went to tvxq`s catch me concert today. Awesome concert. Watching the live, it`s easy to understand why they chose the songs they did. To create a cohesive flow of performances, and for the songs to fit different moods and purposes in parts of the concert.
People like to say they are *keeping tvxq alive* by singing old songs. I say they are reclaiming their songs and owning them like bosses.
So many wonderful performances that it’s hard to pick a favorite. But at least one performance which touched me was their rendition of *i’ll be there*. Their voices were on point, and coming straight after the fan surprise they were emotional and touched and those feelings came through the song. They were charismatic, powerful, yet with many cute moments too. And bromance moments are plentiful.
highlight of the night? eye contact with yunho when he was going around on his trolley. guy is known for paying attention to fans and having eye contact with them. so yeah!
but my dear changmin was looking at the fans, true, but more like looking through us. XD my bias is such an awkward turtle.
both of them have such clear poreless skin. yes, they were close enough to me for me to be able to admire that :D
oh and yunho almost fell off his trolley after switching over with changmin. the thing toppled but he got back on and continued on like nothing happened.
And what is this rumor i read about *chanting of five names going on at the concert* I can`t with the delusion smh Well i was physically there and no chanting of five names anywhere. Plenty of chanting for tvxq, yunho, changmin definitely.
Overall fantastic time. Definitely makes up for goods selling out after i spent 4 hrs in line. Fml (—;)
